In 1908, Denver hosted its first national political convention when the Democrats came to town in early July. What led them to choose Denver in the first place? What were the vital political issues of the day? Was there as much conflict within the party as today? How did Denver rate as a convention host? What did the Democrats do when the convention was not in session? Which candidates did they choose? What famous people attended the convention?
