1927 Rolls Royce
NEW PHANTOM

Original Owner: Prince Aly-Khan
The hood and wheels were originally gold plated.
The car has only 24,000 miles.

The NEW PHANTOM, commonly referred to as the PHANTOM 1 succeeded the famous 'SILVER GHOST'. PHANTOM 1 was produced 1925 to 1929.

An improvement over the Silver Ghost was the new OHV straight-6 engine. Constructed as three groups of two cylinders with detachable heads (state of the art at the time), the large engine produced excellent power to pull the large heavy car. Power output was 108bhp at 2,300rpm with performance around 85mph at 3,000rpm. Aluminum was substituted for cast iron in the cylinder heads in 1928.

Rolls Royce launched the new Phantom in May of 1925. The Phantom was built in both the U.K. and the U.S. A total of 226 Rolls-Royce Phantom I's were produced during its production span.

Frederick Henry Royce was an engineer and the Honorable Charles Stewart Rolls was an aviator, driver, and automobile enthusiast. He was the marketing force of the company.

The Rolls-Royce Company began in the early 1900's, and focused on quality and performance. They marketed to royalty and the elite. The engines were powerful and provided a smooth, comfortable ride. The engines were engineering marvels. Instead of chains, the timing and ignition drive were both run by gears. The parts were hand polished and constructed to a highly accurate degree. The superior construction meant a quiet ride, making conversation possible, even at top speeds.

Rolls Royce has always stood for quality and prestige.
